Welcome to our website where you should find all of the key information about the educational experiences that are on offer at this outstanding school.

Highfurlong School is a co-educational community special school, providing education for pupils aged 2-19 with a wide range of special educational needs.  These include physical disabilities; profound and multiple learning difficulties (including multi-sensory impairment and visual/hearing impairment); speech, language and communication difficulties; moderate learning difficulties and autistic spectrum disorders. We have a state of the art building on the outskirts of Blackpool, and we provide education for pupils from all over the Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde Coast area. Our school is purpose built, and includes a Hydro-therapy pool, sensory rooms, bespoke outdoor education and play areas and is fully accessible for all pupils.

Our school has been judged by Ofsted as being ‘outstanding’  in 2006, 2009, 2014 and more recently in 2018. The latest inspection report  stated that Highfurlong is an

“extremely warm, caring and welcoming school community which holds its pupils at the heart of all it does”

This is the basis of everything that we do at Highfurlong. Our Child First ethos underpins everything that we do. Through all areas of our work we strive to Inspire our pupils, Challenge them to be the best that they can be, and Believe in them. As such, the vision for this school is very clear

We inspire the Highfurlong Family to be the best that they can be

Our bespoke curriculum provides challenge in all areas of education and development for the pupils

We believe everyone can flourish in our warm and friendly school

This vision is a realised through a skilled and dedicated staff body. The Highfurlong Team consists of school employees, colleagues from the NHS and private therapy groups, the Local Education Authority, local and national partners and dedicated Governors. The 2018 inspection report commented that the “staff team and governors are deeply committed to ensuring that pupils receive high-quality education and this commitment permeates everything you do”

The different areas of the website will help you learn more about our school. In addition to this,  our weekly newsletter can be found on the ‘Information’ page and you can follow us on ‘twitter’ and we have a school facebook page.

I am extremely proud to be the Headteacher at Highfurlong School
