At Highfurlong we recognise the value of training new teachers for the profession. As a school we are proud to support the next generation of specialist teachers for children and young people with additional needs. At Highfurlong we want to ensure that all our students achieve their best outcomes. To help us with this we have four highly trained and skilled teacher trainee mentors who constantly update their own training.
For teaching students we offer taster sessions from the Fylde Coast Teaching Alliance SCITT, both primary and secondary trainees. We offer full support from first placement trainees right through to post graduate student teachers for the University of Cumbria, Edgehill University, Manchester Metropolitan University and Blackpool and Fylde College. We also offer bespoke training if required.
From March 2019 we will be hosting a trainee from Blackpool Schools Teaching Alliance who is following a dedicated special needs training route. This is an exciting opportunity for Blackpool and for Highfurlong to help to develop the provision for special needs teaching in Blackpool.
We consider it our privilege to work with the next cohort of specialist SEND teachers.
