Key Stage 3
All pupils at Key Stage 3 have access to a wide and balanced thematic curriculum. We cover all the subjects and areas of the National Curriculum at an appropriate level which meets the needs of our pupils. The subjects are often delivered through cross curricular themes which helps to engage pupils in their learning and allow them to see links between the different areas of the curriculum.
There are 2 main pathways within Key Stage 3; a sensory route within Engagement Steps for PMLD students and an academic pathway within Connecting Steps. Teachers use a wide range of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic approaches to teaching and learning, utilising the extensive technology available within school. Residentials, such as PE trips to Stoke Mandeville for the National Junior Games, are offered to all pupils and we actively encourage pupils to take part in extracurricular activities as an extension of our curriculum. This can be found through our work with Samba Band, Cooking Club and the ELS Youth Club.
