Question One

Additional Comments
“The work set has not been tailor to children with sensory issue but more for children that are more able”
“Some didn’t seem compatible with child”

Thank you to everyone who responded to our questions.  As with our last survey, we will take all responses seriously and act upon them to tailor what we do to you and your children.

This was a positive response overall.

From the comments, we are now building additional workpacks which will be sent out to families.  We aim to tailor these packs once again to our cohorts and hope for them to be used in conjunction with our loaned school resources which are discussed further in the response to question 4.

If any parents would like to offer more suggestions please do so via Seesaw messaging.

Question Two

This is a fantastic result.

We are happy that you all view the level of contact as the right amount.  With this in mind we will continue to contact parents via Seesaw.

School is continually monitoring the number of letters and announcements that are viewed by parents.  If a parent has not seen an important announcement then we have delivered a paper copy to the house during our food deliveries rota.

Question Three

We are happy to see that most people are happy with the food deliveries that have been arranged.  This has been a collective effort from many staff members in order to organise including arranging vouchers, contacting food banks,  special diet considerations, transport routes planning and our staff out delivering the parcels on school transport.

During each stage of this effort we have ensured that all staff have used the necessary Personal Protective Equipment and applied safety measures to make sure they and you are kept safe.

Question Four

“You are doing a good job with me and my son”
“Personal packages to the child, had to give loads away due to not liking or don’t eat”
“The support has been fantastic”
“No we think your doing a great job all round”
“I feel for a special needs school they have not been very inclusive to all children in their school even though they have been approached about this it has been ignored”
“We know how to access support if we need it. Thank you”
“It has been difficult to figure out how to contact school therapy staff such as speech and language, OT, PT etc. So maybe a contact list for these with either numbers or emails as I would usually contact through school”
“School have been excellent, we appreciate everything that is being done”
“We’re fine thank you”
“More online classes- maybe through a team app? To be able to have the kids classrooms have to log in at a certain time would have kept a routine we lost a long time ago”
“Update of when food vouchers will arrive”
“We are doing good at the moment”
“No I don’t think so”
“Nothing”
“School have been fantastic with their support”
“All’s good”
“Use seesaw to upload photos or similar from staff as children miss you and like to see you are ok. *Staff* does fab stories”
“The school has been amazing”
“They have done everything they can”
“School have done so much for us”
“No, your doing fantastic”
“We have very much appreciated the support from the school, as we have both been on the sick from work and only getting sick pay it has greatly helped, as for ******* he’s been doing his work on the Tablet but has been missing the staff and friends”
“No you are looking after **** and me thank you”
“Option of borrowing school equipment or resources…eg…specialist sensory toys, switch toys, boccia ramps…things that are too expensive for us to buy”
“Everything is going well thank you”
Thank you for your responses to this question.

All of our staff take great pride in the role they play in school.  They will always go the extra mile, as proven during this unfortunate Covid-19 pandemic.

In response to the comments we would like to outline our responses below.

1.  “It has been difficult to figure out how to contact school therapy staff such as speech and language, OT, PT etc. So maybe a contact list for these with either numbers or emails as I would usually contact through school”

To help our parents contact the relevant services used by our students, we have created a new link from the parent page which contains all the contact details you might need to gain additional information.  To view our contacts page please click here.

2.  “More online classes- maybe through a team app? To be able to have the kids classrooms have to log in at a certain time would have kept a routine we lost a long time ago”

“Use seesaw to upload photos or similar from staff as children miss you and like to see you are ok. *Staff* does fab stories”

We have asked that all teachers post at least one video or Seesaw activity per week to keep in contact with their students.  Some parents have requested additional activities which we have catered for.  We are also investigation the use of video conferencing applications which can be easily accessed in order to hold class meetings with students.  Using these, staff would be able to invite students to attend short classes/discussions.  We will keep you informed of progress.

3.  “Update of when food vouchers will arrive”

Updates are now being sent out regularly to parents.  We ask for your patience as there have been limiting factors which are sometimes out of our control.

4.  “Option of borrowing school equipment or resources…eg…specialist sensory toys, switch toys, boccia ramps…things that are too expensive for us to buy”

Thank you for this suggestion.  On Friday the 15th May, staff members will be populating a list of school resources which can be loaned to families.  These will include switch toys, PE equipment and a selection from our curriculum resources.  Shortly after, this list will be sent to families via Seesaw to make their selection on a first come first served basis.  With the loaned items we will be sending a loan contract which must be signed before the item is left. Families can then use the item for one week before returning it to school ready to be cleaned and loaned to another family.  To ensure the safety of our families, we will not be loaning any soft toys as they would be difficult to clean effectively.

5.  “I feel for a special needs school they have not been very inclusive to all children in their school even though they have been approached about this it has been ignored”

We are sorry to hear that you feel this way.  As we have no reference to what this refers to and our parent surveys are anonymous, it is difficult for us to act on this comment.  Please could we ask that this parent contact us directly via Seesaw in order for us to tackle this effectively.
